Ive dug in many caves over the years and found lots of points pendants beads and bone tools but have chance to work a camp on concho river what kind of screen do I use past tells me eigth inch but thats for caves with small stuff any help on flat land digging would be helpful
mark, this is just my opinion. if you have access to the land and you don't have to pay to dig and have unlimited amounts of time to dig it I would use and 1/8 to get everything like the birdpoints. If it costs you $ and you have a limited amount of time I'd use a 1/4 screen.
that was my thought and have all time I need but am newcomer to digging in surface camps and was looking at these paysites and thier screens do they not have much small stuff in those areas or it just for speed thanks and glad I found this site thought I may be the only idiot out there looking at the dirt and walking across sandhills
If you expect beads or very small bird points the small sizes may be better. I must be more impatient or just plain duller than most here but I use a 1/2 inch screen. About a fourth of the points I find on my site are perdiz points about 1 inch long with no problems. I tried 1/4 inch screen first but the roots were a real problem clogging up the screen. One half works better for me, you just need to be prepared to switch to whatever works best for your particular situation.
