Plummet

A guy I sifted with found this on the last bucket of the day. Nacho said it was the first he has seen come out of one of his digs!

Re: Plummet

So YOU were there. . .Nacho talked about that all the next day... Tks for the pic

Re: Plummet

I have never seen anything like it. It looks like it may have been a gorget worn around the neck. Or perhaps a small knapping tool? I am sure the experts on this site will weigh in. That is an exceptional artifact. Anyone have a thought on what this is??

Re: Plummet

It's called a "plummet" which is the ancient word for PLUMB BOB. Used under a survey transit to layout the
various neighborhoods of the camp site

Re: Plummet

Some say it was a carpentry tool, some say a weight for a fish net, others say what you said...a pendant worn around the neck. One guy there kept saying that it was the oldest plummet ever found because it was found on an archaic site, but me and my friends found 5 perdiz points there too! Just a woodlands camp on top of a archaic camp on top of a paleo camp!
