mounds of stone?

walking around cedar park - i've seen piles of stone especially by the caves in the cave preserve trails areas in buttercup creek but often just in the woods i see smaller mounds. are these ancient in nature or just someone removing stone from the cave.or markers? thanks in advance.

Re: mounds of stone?

Sounds very likely diggers potholes ( from 40 years back )

Compare them to the "piles" at the site one traffic light south on 183 then East to the trees. Ash & firerock tumble right over the edge of the sidewalk.

Re: mounds of stone?

183 and where? these are large chunks of rock neatly arranged. i will take a pic next time i see one

Baring a picture,
Cedar Park and a 30 mile radius all around has been so intensely dug over the last 50 yrs it would be hard to believe that the "mounds" looked that way in antiquity.
