I found this paper thin 6 1/8" long and 2 1/2" wide Kinney blade at my dig site. As I see it the blade is perfect. What first looks to be edge damage is the Result of the knapping process. I would just like to know how this blade holds up to other ones you good people have seen.
I doubt you'll get many replies of people that have dug similar size & quality, thats gorgeous. Even that big Kinney camp at the Nacho Church did not produce such an item though every screener went home with a smaller "working class" piece.
There WAS at least two made of your find....I was surprised to see that the top example shown in the money book was almost exactly the same size and quality as yours though your example has the more interesting looking flint character.
Your "last shovel" then rain just makes for a better memory
Slight correction, Someone did find a bit larger than the run of the mill Kinneys. Lucky Idahoe got a 5.25
incher with a bit of a pattern to the flint.....
anything over 6in's is a sin because im already coveting that blade. you found that thing in my backyard.you obviously have an incredible site to hunt. congadulations on your find and i hope you cant do #2 till you atleast let me hold that museum quality find.
p.s.
looks to me like where they lashed it on.
