Found today, can't figure out what point this is??

Was headin dove huntin, stopped by the field on the way and fixin to get in truck and leave and found this! Can't figure out what point type, the ears kinda flare out, it's super thin and beautiful flaking!! Any ideas? The base looks ground too!Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Re: Found today, can't figure out what point this is??

Other than a beauty, I wouldn't like to even guess on the type. Neat "hunting story"

For those that might know what type it is, it might help to know what size it is.....is that scale a .410 or 10 gauge

Re: Found today, can't figure out what point this is??

12 gauge!! Dove hunting wasn't too good, shoulda stayed in the plowed field! Flake everywhere, the wind is really blowing the sand around! No ideas on point?? I just can't find it in overstreet or Hesters book at all?

Re: Found today, can't figure out what point this is??

Looks early archaic to me, other than that I can't say

Re: Found today, can't figure out what point this is??

Well now that we know it's 12 gauge in size and the books dont have anything exactly like it, it's probably a varient of another point. Ignoring the excessive barbs, just the rounded base is kinda MORHISSish.

IF it was mine, I would not put it in a Paleo frame
