INDIAN MARBLE FOUND BY LOUIS

Marble might fit this item better than the usual " game ball ".
Louis came up with this at the chalk bluffs site ( and another digger found the same size polished one but I got no pic of #2 )

Its a lump of MARCASITE, hand polished to a gloss...

Heres' recent find of mine of the same material. Notice the big one is "pecked" all around ( probably an attempt to make something out of it )...the little one on the right shows the radiating stucture common to all the nodules found in central TX.

Natural, unpecked, unstream tumbled, unpolished all look knobby like this ..

Google " MARCASITE MINERAL "
I've been onto this object since fossil days, yet I just picked up a new tidbit....The word "marcasite" is
from an Arabic word meaning PYRITE.
