found these about 7 miles from campsite, not certain if these are from a meteorite or volcano tubes(worms, as they are called by some)....just something differnet to talk about, it looked like a burnt rock site at first is why we checked it out
Sh.....why are the "other ones" a geologists dream? they look like rusted glass to me but some of them do have some tiny little crytals on them and they stick to a magnet. Is the Markasite from the central Texas area?
We found all of these here in Gaines,Co.
Would you send any of these in for analysis?
A dream because of their mineral content and what gave them a "tube form" AND MAGNETIC
It's bound to be an iron sulfide, I found some around Amistad in Gypsum deposits that look similar in texture & color, globular not tubular but never magnetic...
Just mail one representative piece to the university of your choice ( geology dept )
SH.hubby says if you like studying minerals or rocks , as such, he will send you a piece of it if you want one...send me an email with an addy if you want to and but it will be after the 3rd before I send it. We only have a 30 X magnifying glass to look at it with. so just let me know if yu want a piece of it. we enjoy looking at the little minerals on it.
