found this one a CCC ranch behind the house a few years ago it has a heavy bevel and diagonal flakeing on both sides anyone have a clue on the type?
I would think some kind of langtry or gary but its so twisted and crazy flaked I dont know
The blade, shoulders and bevel are quintessential Darl, but not the contracting base. Was the point dug or was it a surface find? If dug, from which occupational layer?
I dug this point on the edge of a midden/camp moveing big flat rocks about a foot thick it was in the top 6"
in a crack between the rocks it was a 1' to 18" to the bedrock I saw points from perds to birds comeing out
I got a couple from Williamson Co, just assumed they are Langtry...your post made me go check for closer matches ( not considering style of flaking )...There it is :: a DICKSON .. still a long way from it's listed home territorty !
I'm a bit jaded to hear of finding it along with others in the rocks & cracks...I've moved mega tons of rock and did not do that well but thats what I had in mind, find what had slipped through the cracks.
