Something or nothing?

hello! I'm new here and wanted to get some expert opinions on an item I found years ago in South Texas.

What do you think... is this something or nothing?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Something or nothing?

Really not anything. But it sure is some pretty material. Keep looking in that same area to see if you can find some artifacts made out of that material.

Re: Something or nothing?

sorry I didnt add a coin or something for size... larger piece is 3 1/2"

Re: Something or nothing?

that first flake piece looks like agate. the larger piece is definately an indian artifact, looks like a usefull preform.

Thats all man made work on that large preform, It was going to be a beautiful dart point but in the mean time, probably used as a scraper / brush chopper.
Now that you know for sure the ancients were there, We'd
like to see a point made out of that top type flint

Problem is these pieces represent what I've picked up over the last 30 years. Mostly old hunting leases... Refugio, Hebbronville, Skidmore, Falfurrias... Couldnt tell you what came from where.

I'm learning, thanks to you guys and this forum... the fever is growing

THIRTY YEARS ...THATS WAY TOO LONG

If you have an interest in such things you should update your collection. There was habitation in every corner of Tx and new artifacts are being exposed after every rain, flood, dust storm and tide changes.

As the "surfacing" nuts say " Keep looking down "
