what is this?

I am in East Texas (Livingston) and i have just started really looking for arrowheads but on a recent dig i found something very unusual. Hope you can help. I found several little balls that looked like rabbit pellets and when you mashed it, the most disgusting odor in the world !!! the inside was a really bright yellow (canary) and within 15 seconds the green blow flies were everywhere. we did find pottery and a few arrowheads also.
