ROLANDS ON THE CREEK 6-11-11

The mighty Nueces river in the backround of an Early Triangle dug at The Rolands lot 16 ! ( can only be done with zero winds,,balancing that is, not digging )

Photobucket

This is now the flint washing area where the water runs through the under road culverts..No dive goggles needed.

Photobucket

I got a chance to try out a new digging tool...Got the idea from watching the WX reports from the North
this past winter..
I call it a " throw plow "

Just position it where you want to move some dirt.

Photobucket

chain it to somebody's vehicle

Photobucket

Put it in low DRIVE ,,and hit the gas

Photobucket

Oh Boy !

Photobucket

It's obviously a blade base with very fine workmanship, very thin..

Photobucket

I took special care to remove all the dirt OVER the point to allow a complete proper 'insitu'

What a waste of pixels

Photobucket

Finds of the day ( unwashed )

Photobucket

All worked artifacts....best of the lot, the triangle shown in the opening clip

Photobucket

Here they are washed...

Photobucket

Still under an inch of water ( thats why they look so B I G )

Photobucket

. . . . S U R P R I S E..

Photobucket

Even in a drought, the seepage under the low water bridge feeds the old flint wash hole

Re: ROLANDS ON THE CREEK 6-11-11

as always a good show!! Are some those other brokes results from your first balancing attempts!!

Re: ROLANDS ON THE CREEK 6-11-11

PHOTOSHOP, there is no way you could balance that point on your finger, PHOTOSHOP.

Re: ROLANDS ON THE CREEK 6-11-11

Hal is a master balancer. Hey I like that early triangle. Nice new tool. I've got a simiar idea with a tarp. The tarp catches the overburden and sift dirt and then I tie it to a chain and to the truck bumper.

How do you do it Hal?

I don't know how you camp out & dig in this heat. About the only thing The water sure looks good though!

Re: ROLANDS ON THE CREEK 6-11-11

Did you find any nice Manos? As always, an excellent presentation. I wonder if one could get an air-conditioned dig site? It looks very hot. I see Rolands still has some dirt to work through. Cheers.

Re: ROLANDS ON THE CREEK 6-11-11

Sandy, good thought on the brokes, but not me...might have been the little Indian kids playing with Dad's hunting supplies.

M.E.....Thats a Terrible thing to say about someone that can just barely send Emails..
Meet me here in the wee hrs of the morn for the 'how to' explanation

Trav, get it together...do it
There ARE fabrics that are made to handle heavy tough loads....
Like the EZ unload pickup beds that unloads a ton of material by winding it on a small dia spool....Fabric
slings handle TONS.

Consider flexible wire instead of chain...for working in an area not accessable to a pull vehicle...A COMEALONG ( 4000 lbs rated )

rg...What heat ?...it's only JUNE

Ida,,all the Manos you can handle ( Your gonna need a bigger vehicle. ! )
