marshall end scraper?

As usual another reshaped piece!

The stone is some type of kitchen tool, seems to be to large for mano, but has one flat smooth side?

Re: marshall end scraper?

Cool stuff Sandman. I have always wondered what the hafted scrapers were used for. Maybe digging marrow out of bones? Who knows. Your Metate is also very cool and hard to find one whole. They are usually broken in half. If it's smooth on one side and not heavily dished out it may have been a new addition to the kitchen ! Thanks for posting. Great stuff !

Re: marshall end scraper?

A scraper that well made is pretty rare to find intact, very nice.
To enlarge on Ida's input, a new small Matate goes with the smaller Manos that we think of a grinders for herbs & ****es. Some "drills" I think of as Marrow spoons.

Check back on that last C3 report...there's a small herb mano in the pan.

Would that original owner really have used a four inch Marshall to make a scraper ???

( **** = seasonings )

Re: marshall end scraper?

The metate does have a small piece broke off, when I found it I was thinking to large for mano and to small for metate! but it does have a very small dished area. I would think the marshall was a broke amd made into a end scraper, have found a plainview end scraper at same site. Thanks!
