Found coin while digging

My dad has a coin he found digging for points over thirty years ago but don't know what it is Ive been looking for days now trying to identify it and got no where

Re: Found coin while digging

A 30 yr old mystery did it get there from the ancients or another modern digger drop it.?
If not found in any of the better coin reference books
must be a medalion or token. How does that hole look,
machine made sharp or flint point raggety ?

Must look neat in a frame of points found from that site.
Does the flip side happen to say " GOOD FOR ONE RIDE "

Re: Found coin while digging

Man I'd have that thing looked at. It may be a gold mine!

Re: Found coin while digging

Your medallion is from the mid 1800's, its French or Flemish. The profile of the bearded man in the modified Morion Helmut represents the member of some city's fire brigade.

Re: Found coin while digging

Excellent research job Red.
So that medalion may have been brought over from Europe now all that needs to be discovered is how it got into
an Indian campsite.
