two pieces became one !!!

Found this piece about 2-3 months back. I called it a broken pestle??

Photobucket

Well here today, i found another piece just about identical.

Photobucket

went home and compared the two and who would have thought it, but they belong together!! found 30-40 yds. apart and a couple of months later!! Anybody have the proper id on this?

Photobucket

Some other find for the day.

Photobucket

Re: two pieces became one !!!

Not sure on top piece but bottom two are darl and fairland

Re: two pieces became one !!!

Being longish, Pestle may be the best fitting ID. Looks sandstone, good for mashing but with the break where it is, somebody must have used it for hammering
tent pegs.
The base on that serrated Darl looks a bit severe.
The blade on that long Carrolton base looks a bit severe

Nice finds and a good memory story, now what about some miracle tips & bases match ups

Re: two pieces became one !!!

ok, maybe a carrolton picked up and reworked by the darl people?

ANYTHING is possible....we make a fuss over finding nice surface finds today,,,the ancients must also have found surface points from older peoples.
In our first week of flinting, Badger & I were told by an 'expert' that all drills were made from points the people found on the surface as they didn't want to mess up their own points
