Not flint but shell. Finds from TJ's dig at Palmer's back in June.
Sent Dr. Hester the pic's and he said they were worn on clothing and as hair ornaments. Prehistoric bling so to speak. Even then women liked their sparklies
Thanks Travis. I wonder how many more of them slipped through the screens. I was lucky to see these two. I think there was another one found by Louisiana Jim's son. Kinda round shaped.
I tried to pass them off as expensive Christmas gifts, a little 12K gold wire and she'd have one of a kind earrings but she said they were a little dated, kinda old and just wouldn't fit in with the new fashions.
I'd contacted Hester after finding them and he said they were worn on clothing and as hair ornaments. I'll bet there were a lot more buried in that dirt somewhere. The complete one was sitting right on top of the load, I spotted it right off and knew what it was, so started chicken scratching for more. Found the other one in the throw dirt under the table. No such luck to find any more. I wish TJ would make a deal with that new owner, there's still a lot of undug camp, especially where Zach and Nicolle were screening at the base of the hill.
I know Hal was proud of his big dirt clods but he didn't have to bring them over to our table every time. He could have shared with others.
