Surface hunting at Starr I was very lucky to make this find
The temps were over 80* with a clear sunny sky and Anty Maim was just making the scene after all winter in a hole.
Maim is the Texas equivelent to Puxatawny Phil as a Wx predictor.
Near as I could tell, the message was, " SPRING HAS SPRUNG, C'MON OUT BOYS ( but beware one more late
freeze ) "
Lot of spring housecleaning dirt to bring to the surface.
Those look like the good old red ants, a good sign. They almost completely disappeared when the fire ants came in. Without their primary food source, (the red ants) the horny toads got real scarce. Now we're starting to see more red ants and horny toads down here.. Now the fire ants are the ones on the endangered spieces list.
What's that little white dot in the sky background?
Nice of you to be so observant... Thats the MOON ( about 5:30 PM on that afternoon.) And I was trying to highlight it, thats why the tree only fills part of the frame...I'm surprised how small it came out....
I DID do a telephoto of the same format BUT it produced a nice nice moon and nothing but fuzz where the flint & blossoms are
This skyshot is especially for Idahoe's enjoyment....
This past dig at Starr we were digging side by side ...he had found 2 nice pieces and after a long time this piece is what I found. He made a big complimentary fuss over how beautiful this abreviated base of a Williams was ( red bud trees always pop early )
That's what I was thinking, the moon, but wasn't sure because of past ghost in pictures. Thought it might be a plane or UFO at first. A nice mesquite pic. anyway. It shows winter is fading fast.
