Natural or Painted ? Your opinion !

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago . I find it hard to believe that a paint job .On anything . Would last a minimum of a 100 years . Out in the elements. What do you think ? I gave it a licking before I took the picture . To help it pop out. Photobucket">

Re: Natural or Painted ? Your opinion !

There ARE authentic old 'painted stones'. hard to tell from a pic about yours. The upcoming flint show in Luling will have dealers that can tell.

The lasting power of paints is very strong, red = iron -- black = carbon. I would think durability would depend on the rock ( limestone porus,,,agate impervious ) and naturally weathering protection or stream rolled.

Be unique if it was authentic.
