Barksdale Dig 3/31/12

Didn't find a truck of points but Flicker did manage to score a needle tip Bandy. Everybody found at least one good point. Here's Lee and his buddy's finds.

Ours

Check out this broke birdie. Possible Edwards? Don't know, the base wings are kinda large for an Edwards.

Re: Barksdale Dig 3/31/12

Well all those are definitely good signs of life and show what type of people were active in that area.
Just have to keep diggin

Even if that Bird was complete it might not be an easy ID...( I dont care for Edwards )Base could be something like a Haskell but the heavy serations confuse the issue..
Whatever it may be, it's very young .. and the Bandy very old showing how long people have been walking around that site ...Good deal

Re: Barksdale Dig 3/31/12

That Marshal would have been sick.

Re: Barksdale Dig 3/31/12

It was an old break, but yeah, it would have been a centerpiece. We found lots of brokes there made out of rootbeer flint. Others with good coloration.

Re: Barksdale Dig 3/31/12

Hey Tehuacana! nice showing, and a super heartbreaker Marshall! I think I wanna throw Livermore into the bird pool; i've seen a few around and can't rule it out.

Re: Barksdale Dig 3/31/12

Hey Will, good to see you back, hadn't seen you around in a while. Yeah, I'm thinking this bird is outside the norm on what I'd expect to find out there. We'd found Perdiz and Edwards but this one just doesn't fit in. I'd heard Wash ita mentioned also. Whatever it is, it's definitely not in the regular class.
Mark and Robert found a real beaut of an Edwards out there also, translucent red flint. Second clear red one from that site.
