When digging on private land, make sure you have WRITTEN CONSENT from the land OWNER prior to doing so. just after coffee and honey bun this morning, came loaded 40 S&W and unfriendly CARETAKER COUPLE!Then came the Sheriffs Dept.and charges.....EXCAVATION OF NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIFACTS IS A FELONY OFFENSE! Apparently, I didn't get that memo. P.S. Iwas on the land under the ASSumption that it was ok. Today I am also one friend less....Derek!!
Dam, that's a shame. I got permission to hunt on a couple of ranches here,I've had the land owners permission on both for over thirty years. When one owner died, his son took over the ranch and I verified that it was OK with the son before I started hunting again.
Hope you didn't get into too much trouble.
I came out ok Tehuacana. Turns out too many folks had the gate combo including my "friend", who let me in and dropped me off. very good mound, had to relinquish artifacts...it was part of the deal
99% of the land owners around my land have told me it is ok for me to hunt points on their land, but they never tell the rest of their family or hunters. So I have put all their phone numbers on speed-dial, and that has helped a lot!
