HEARTBREAKER LUNAR ECLIPSE AT C3

getting ready for the 8 PM eclipse on the 2oth, I borrowed a #12 welding lens from Richard..and did a few mid day practice shots

Photobucket

Worked great, sort of a "skyshot" Ensor with a solar flare

Photobucket

Come the big moment...I used my own flash hood...IT DIDN'T FLASH with that low sun angle...

Photobucket

Just imagine the lower part is missing

Photobucket

But the special nature of the flash lens brought out some other previously unseen near solar orbiting
planets

Photobucket

Next 'clipse I'll stick with R's #12

Eclipse day finds

2 experts have judged the broken base to be Paleo..nice testimony to the very long history of the area. The tip below the paleo is clear quartz, hard to imagine it complete as it's the quartz that is well internally fractured.

Clear skies where it mattered made the eclipse a good one.
