Been there a few times and always had fun and sucess. Number one thing to consider is that it is ROCKY. It aint no dig in the park so be ready for hard ground. Take you time diggin thru the rocky ground. The best piece I found I broke because I got in a hurry to move a lot of dirt and smaked it with my pick axe. Like SH said look for fresh diggin spots and it will save you time gettin a hole started. Just start where someone else left off. They were diggin there for a reason.
