Louisiana Suzy won the day's trophy for the 'heaviest' find
A translucent Covington
Driver Mark on a break ( with someone else's Perd )....M's an enthusiastic digger / collector, must be
tougher than the heat to load tables for 8 hours only to watch "other people" making finds
From the hand of LAJamie
Cliff & Jason had a brand new shade tent...
LUNCH BREAK
Time for 'show N tells'...This a LA Jim's family collection in the Texas frame ( noteworthy that 2 of the largest blades were dug from the huge blade Randy Brown site long ago.
The Louisiana / E Texas frame ( quite a few San Patrice ) Notice the obvious dominant red hue to the
material ...What cant be seen close is a TERRIFIC Palm wood point ( 2nd row up, 4th frm R ) & a few P Wood..
The bird point frame was excellent AND ...I keep seeing the smallest bird points...WOW
Except for the primarily dug Texas frame ...all of the others are family surface finds. ( I'm trying to be carefull to give every body full credit not just Jim )
After lunch is traditionally better than the morning practice
Load up....> >
Jamie AGAIN...What a Frio
Dirt's eye view of those happy faces
Arizona Al with a modest Nolan
ANOTHER "modest" AzAl find...a drillform Gower
A SH find...a double neat find.....I thought it was a small blade ( everybody's got hundreds of these ) but
after wiping the dirt off ...>> turned out to be a perfect LaJita
The dust is even drier in the afternoon
Here we go AGAIN....Jamie !
Ace ( who has seen MILLIONS of Nueces valley finds ) was very impressed with his translucent blade
Mark took the day's award for the "largest tool " find
A very nice paddle drill
Affectionatly craddled in TWO hands, the high dollar award find of the day.....
Looks like had everybody good time and some real nice finds! The BELL is some of that awesome!
The last find is very interesting, I have found several of those here in Milam co. Those that I have found are not as well msde as the Nueces river valley type. It is assumed they were made by the Azebackward tribe, they were a small band that were pretty much loners and did not associate with the other bands or tribes. It is also believed that this point type could have been a proto-type for the more modern Blunt point!
Curious if there are any others out there and might be able to determine their range of inhabitance!
