Looking to go on a dig with my son, never done. Please help with info

Hi, I live in the Corpus Christi area and I'm looking for an area to find fossils, arrowheads or artifacts. My son and I do not have any experience so I would prefer an organized dig. I want a place that we can keep anything that we find.

Thanks,

Thomas

Try Digfest?

Re: Looking to go on a dig with my son, never done. Please help with info

Since all of TX is just one big fossil bed, finding is easy...The organised part means becoming affiliated with a Paleontology club which most larger cities have..Hit the Google search for an organisation that suits you

These clubs run monthly field trips. For example go back to frt pg, bottom R icon " 2004 CTPS SHARK TOOTH DIG " These clubs are great as they negociate getting onto private land normally off limits to the common man.
CTPS = Central Texas Paleontological Society.

Artifacts; see "metal detecting clubs " ( try some related key words in that search block above this message board )
Front pg again, top L..click " DIG YOUR TREASURES"....terrific places ( none in TX )

Places to actually dig for Flint artifacts is very limited, have to make your best judgement from what you see ( and use the search block ) on these pages. Right at this moment TJ's & Nacho's screen digs are red hot ( wont last forever ! ) The once a year Digfest has the values you stated, good outing to see what it's all about, thats in 3 weeks.

Kids really love the metal detecting thing. You can rent a beginner's metal detector for your kids. Enjoy your time.

Corpus Christi Geological Society organizes a trip to a quarry each year LOADED with Pleistocene fossils. Juan Cabazos is the man you want to talk to. Very nice guy and if they still have the trip its almost a guarantee that you will find something.
