Big Sky country

All, I have been relocated to Great Falls Montana. Does anyone out there know where I can come up somewhere to hunt up here?

Re: Big Sky country

Hey neighbor, we moved up to Cut Bank a couple months ago and bought a business here. Already had friends from Tx living here. There's a pay dig for points and fossils up near Havre on the Milk River Ranch and down near Phillipsburg there are several places to screen for sapphires, rubies, and garnets. Hit it once already and scored several carats of sapphires and some garnets. Dang Texans are taking over this state.

We do most our shopping over in Great Falls or Kalispell. Cut Bank don't have much as far as shopping though there's more bars and casino's then people for entertainment.

What are u doing in Montana, Gordon?

Re: Big Sky country

Hey Trav, I am working on Malmstrom AFB, building weapons storage facilities. I will most likely be out of here before Turkey Day.

T, I went up to Browning this weekend. I wish I would have known a fellow Texan was in Cut Bank, I drove right through there. The gem hunting sounds pretty cool, but I am looking for arrowheads. Is there anywhere to hunt heads that you know of? I am going back to Browning this coming weekend to pick up a pair of 1890 era mocassins I bought. Maybe we could meet for lunch.
Call me 253-341-5362.

Cool, well that sounds like a pretty neat gig. I would definately hang out with Tehuacana and his wife. Super friendly, cool folks. I think since your in no mans land way up there your potential for finding stuff in caves in that dry climate is really good. Or at least much better than in north Texas

Re: Big Sky country

Buffalo jumps and teepee rings seem to be the most common. I talked to the guy that owned the deli years back and he's got some obsidian points and flint ones that he'd found on their ranch near here. He said he'd bring them by one day so I could get pic's of them and post. Some are Paleo, those are the ones I want to find.

Re: Big Sky country

i'd love to see them....Ken.

Re: Big Sky country

North on 15 then Canadian back roads to Drumheller...Visit Royal Tyrell museum, should have some Paleo blades in a few skeletons..

Re: Big Sky country

We're right next to the Blackfoot Indian reservation. Browning, just west of here, is pretty much run by and owned by them. There's a museum there and several stores selling jewelry, blankets, etc. So far we haven't hit them, been trying to win a second retirement at their casino. Those machines are screwed down tight.
