This past summer we saw Mark A (#1) saving all the the flint flakes found in screening... Mark is the prime mover of the "flint trees" sculptures.
He said his latest project was to turn all these tubs of flakes into a GIANT hollow point, lit on the inside.
The basic idea sounded good so I thought I would try a miniature project that would not infringe too much on Mark's original idea ..
Job one was to laboriously collect ALL the flakes that came across the table...
Takes more flint than I thought..had to collect MORE on another screen trip.
Then wash them
Here's the project ready for assembly..
flint was rinsed in Muriatic acid to completely remove scalling. Cutout a shape in Acrylic plastic. Just plain Elmers glue to stick on.
The final product.. , , , , , all translucent honey Nueces valley flint.
Ask an expert for his opinion..
Could be a good cheap Christmas present. Make any shape, like an iphone, flat screen TV or for recipients that are not into arrowheads.
