Re: Starr Ranch finds

sandman
The pic below the quarter looks like a Gower??

Nice finds!!

Very well could be. It would have been a beauty though. I was pretty upset when I discovered it was broke. I was really hoping it was a Perd. I gotta get back to Texas soon to find some more.

Re: Starr Ranch finds

And there is another of those history lessons I like....

Over the coin is a 500 year old Scallorn....
5000 yr old Gower below, , , , and the 20th century ( 1976 AD ) amidships !

Re: Starr Ranch finds

4-21. . . Just had to get back out to Starr to check my "hot spot"

At least that amazing tree with no roots was still standing

A local surface hunter was not too interested in my morning find

One more Martindale left a bit deeper..?

Re: Starr Ranch finds

Not to bad Hal! A friend of mine that has come to Texas with me went home empty handed both times. I seen you out at Starr last year and you had a deep hole next to that tree. I heard you found some good stuff around that tree.

Re: Starr Ranch finds

S, that area ( commonly called the spring midden for the proximity to the spring water ) had a good consentration of Martindale (old) to Bird points ( V young ). With so much concentrated activity in a small area there is always
a chance of finding a good area off to the side or lower than the last digger.

I doubt that that tree will be standing on your next visit, just needs a light breeze now

Re: Starr Ranch finds

Hey Stoney you need to come out to Juno on the 4th and 5th of next month. I think I got the date right anyways I will try and be there. You won't go home empty handed

Re: Starr Ranch finds

Yeah, I know. Is he gonna have an opening? Never been on a screen dig, not sure how they go. Do yall usually camp out or stay in motels?

Re: Starr Ranch finds

Usually hotels but there isn't any down there. He should have an opening u will just have to call and reserve.

Re: Starr Ranch finds

OK. What's he charge a day? You gonna be able to make it ?
