Hello, I am new to the site and somewhat new to Texas. I live in the Humble area and have been reading alot of post on this site and enjoying the pictures. If anyone would be interested in going looking and helping me learn the TX ways it would be very much appreciated. I would also be interested in any digs that are coming up or any information on the subject.
"digs coming up"..Just stay in touch with TJ & Nacho for their schedules. Active hand digs at the moment, Starr ranch & Chrisners.
Try that search block above with key waords like EAST TEXAS, LAKE LIVINGSTON,etc.over the past number of years readers have posted some good finds.
You have one huge advantage if your so inclined...Humble is fairly close to MCFADDEN BEACH ( hit the search block )...There is well documented records of Paleo points and Mammoth teeth washing up.
I's not a guarenteed rich area but he who can get down there the most has the best chance of a special find.
To see some very special E TX finds...finds Mark Adams' website. ( search block BY USER,,,,,,,,, MARK ADAMS )
Thanks for all of the great information SH. I will be headed to McFadden the first chance I get. I also followed your advice on the searches and I am really pleased with what I saw. I can not wait to hunt again!!
I wouldn't waist a day looking on McFadden beach unless you like shells too. And sand. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you'll find something. Fossils are a regular find. Go on a winter day on low tide with a howling north wind. This will push the water out and expose more beach to look on. Not even sure you can hunt on McFaddin. Might check to make sure it's legal. Good luck.

Might well be, anything that does not not create sales tax $ in Tx is illegal.
A large portion of that McF beach area is a national wildlife refuge, maybe the same restrictions as parks.
Another timing suggestion, be the first to walk the beach after a hurricane makes landfall.
