Overstreet says that the ears should curve slightly inward at he end of the ear. Looking at the pic's of Barbers in the book compared to the point in question brings me to the conclusion that the point is a Plainview.
I don't think it is a perd... It came from a site that has a lot of paleo stuff. It Is ground pretty good and the base is a lot wider than the perds found in the area. If it was a perd it would have been 2" wide with the wings.

map shows why, VERY limited area of South Central TX.
