THE MESSAGE BOARD POINT CHATTER IS NOW CLOSED TO ALL NEW POSTS.
The last section of the road is the decent to the valley floor...much like that first look ahead on a roller coaster ride..
Thats the Devils River at the bottom.. site on high ground near water.
Lesly was our driver for the day
Rudy started off with a big Pandale in the first load. ( no close up pic, I was too busy at my own table.....)
Something of interest..
Ace got a near miss. A true Corner Tang design without the tang.
Big surprise ( for both the screener AND the Spider ! )
A shout from Eric brings the inspectors:
A very respectable Pandale.
A nice cooling drizzle also kept the dust minimal
Least enthusiastic lunch break I have ever seen....Most of the crew had been out here in the wild for 2 days and all the gourmet food was gone....down to unappealing sandwiches !
Show & tell time
Spencer's frame just gets better with age.
Nacho munched his dry sandwich while showing us the black soil & fire rock just below where we were digging...future screeners will be into this area soon.
The road down to the river had cut rightt hrough the camp edge, fire rock in the track.
I took the lunch time to check out the river ( I had a dead sandwich too ! )...It was very pretty near the water, perfect for a flint find backround but I didn't have a piece with me.
It was still drizzling on the walk.
How's this for a party raft ! ( foot bottom L for scale )
This site is about 20 miles south of the Juno site, the water has cleared up entirely.
Lunch over...back to work. In short order Rafael had a find. Clint is amazed.
" Find of a lifetime "
Raf was a good sport....he went off to hit the dozer driver over the head
with it !
Nach called me over to take a pic of a "beauty"....Triangle ....I was a good sport and took the pic
He & Ace also had found these;
So we bid fond farewell to this land of the ancients
I camped on Lake Amistad the night before the dig...This is where the Devils River spills into the lake ( Rio Grand R )
River is coming in from top R.
Did the ancients launch their rafts from this prime location ?
nice update SH
Hal, Great Report, so you were only there on Sunday, had the 2 previous days produced pretty well at the site? Thanks, John F.
Friday & Sat were reportedly good days as per the pictures.( Nach has a new Galaxy phone / camera, brilliant big pics )
Sunday started off good then slowed considerably. The site is so big, just a case of hot & cold spots.
