Looks like it could be / should be pottery since Fayette county is pretty close to the range of the Mississippians that are known to have produced elaborate pottery. IF that broken point was found nearby and IF it's a Hayes, thats listed as Missian.
It would have been a beautifully intricate item.

the point was found close by... it was found by my son.. the picture of him with it made the front page one time!!!
