Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

Thanks guys it's a real center piece for sure.
Jake I was thinking about a trade, do you have any good Birdpoints or other knives.

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

It is a nice piece, but I don't want it. I have a similar piece from central Texas a little larger and was wondering what the market was on a piece like that right now?

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

Jake,

I know a guy that likes to buy blades and will pay good $$$$. Drop me an email and i will get you in contact with him.

Mark that is an awesome blade! Congrats man.

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

What a killer!! I have been looking for that one for awhile. Thanks for posting it!

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

Thanks for the replies guys. Blades like this just don't belong in my area so it's a real kick when one pops up every 30 years.LOL

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

A good quality blade should bring about $100 dollars an inch depending on the type, stone etc....

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

I think that blade is worth a little more than 700$!!!!

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

I think your talking a few thousand.

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

The 100 dollar an inch is a basic rule that IMO works for most blades UNDER 6 inches. But of co**** material, rarity, flaking, thinness, etc can play a role as well. I'd say anything over six inches of good quality doubles, tripples, or quadruples per inch afterwards. When all else fails, if someone wants it bad enough they will offer crazy money... Supply and demand.
Just my thoughts, nice blade mark.

Re: East Texas Blade Over 7" Long

That is absolutely correct! I don't think the $100 dollar per inch rule

applies, and anything over 5 or 6 inches obviously demands more value. The

chances of finding a BIG blade or point unbroken gets much higher. When

buying/selling artifacts it becomes a retail, wholesale market, unless a

private buyer is involved. In the 80's I found a cache of Blades and the

largest of the three was 9 1/2 inches in length, and 5 1/2 inches at the base

it sold for $10,000. But I was told by many collectors and experts that it

was the finest they had ever seen.

Don't think I will make Digfest this year but Good luck to everyone!
