Friday the 13th was still a lucky day for the one root tree at Starr...still standing.
I thought it had keeled over in the recent Trenching but here it is !
There's a prominent rock face below the remaining roots. a new trench exposes some of it, hand diggers can continue. That main tap root must be growing down through a crack that had dirt in it...Paleo ?
I would call this some good luck....
Lakes all over central Tx are very low. The Starr lake must be close to the water table as it's holding up so well.
Hey Hal, Like that ole tree, I'd have to say you had a Lucky Friday the 13th in finding a nice big, symetrical perd like you scored! Congrats on that find! By the way, how shallow was it found at??
J, find was from the area known as "top O th hill "..it's been heavily dug for the last 3 years, looks like a WW1 battle field.
average depth for the whole hill is about 10 inches but sometimes goes as deep as 12 inches
There is plenty of new trenching in good areas but one person can only do so much !
