Hey Everyone. Post your best find of 2013. This is mine. It is a killer San Patrice with great color and flaking. Not sure if it is a Geneill or a Keithville type. It will be good to see all the great points found this year so please post! Eddy
On a couple of screen digs with Nacho in the Nueces valley ( reknown for translucent flint ) I collected a few hundred flakes.
Then washed them ( and cooled and washed me off )
drying;
Cut out a design from rigid 1/8 inch acrylic plastic. . . Wash ( then dry )all selected flakes in Muriatic acid to remove dirt and scale not removed by water.
Glue individual pieces on with a good clear glue, like liquid nail clear or Elmers'. Diamond bit on a Dremel to fine trim some pieces for a better fit.
Nacho was a good sport about finding a fake point on his dig !
Foot notes:
All washed flakes shown are strictly my table finds and is only those that pass the criteria of thinness, color and size...Area was rich in all flakes including worked pieces.
Black outline around each piece of flint is very deliberate to make it look like a stained glass window effect. Black roofing caulk
Thats a nice one. Is it east Texas? Clovis type? What do you think it would type as?
Thank you, It was found in west texas, Dr. Collins said it was a "gainey type" projectile. He said they are contemporary with folsom. But others have said clovis so who knows.
Lot of sweat went into finding that one!!! Just browsing point chatter and thought that looked familiar and saw the ACU bottoms haha. Still loved seeing that stick out of that wall!
WOW these are some really great looking points. Love the detail on that kerrvile knife and nolan. All these points are going to make field grade finds look even more field grade !! LOL. Congrats everyone and thanks for sharing. Happy 2014 finds
