TEXTBOOK LESSON FOR "NEW DIGGERS"

Have you been thinking about trying a little bit of actual digging for artifacts...?
Here's a golden opportunity to see what it looks like. Get out to Chrisners and go straight to the "Big Hole" area..Some real professional diggers are working there and you will be able to see what is involved..Some are working from the original big hole area to the old road.

The holes are DEEP, clean and HUGE amounts of dirt moved... Very reminiscent of West Virginia coal miners.

Take special note how to undercut the good soil leaving an over hang of bad top soil. This hole is a full 5 feet straight in, More a tunnel than a hole. Being safety minded, the professional digger has moved a large tree trunk to block vehicles from driving over the overhang..

New people, just duplicate what you see.

Re: TEXTBOOK LESSON FOR "NEW DIGGERS"

Its alot of work for a few points also. Last time I went I found a few broken ones. It takes time and money to find a good spot to dig, unless you hit a good spot and dont tell anyone what you found. I have found the best way is to spot dig at new spots untill you find a spot the produces. Good luck digging

Re: TEXTBOOK LESSON FOR "NEW DIGGERS"

p.s. I like Spyder! Looks like a great partner for digging, he has built in tools.

Re: TEXTBOOK LESSON FOR "NEW DIGGERS"

That's some serious dirt slinging. At least you don't have to dig through permafrost just to get to soft soil. Good show there Hal.

Re: TEXTBOOK LESSON FOR "NEW DIGGERS"

I stopped by Chrisnes for a no digging check on progress..
