livebox Orange broadband with free phone calls

If you signed up for French Telecom and find you are still paying for calls, this may be why.

We had similar problem, turned out we had two accounts one for phone
(french telecom) and one for internet(Orange). This is not what the
customer service rep told me when I purchased the package, he told me
it was all inclusive.

If your phone line is connected into the brown phone connection on the
wall then you will be charged a seperate phone line rental change from
French Telecom. If your phone connects into the white connection on
the live box then you have (free) phone calls if not you don't.

You can check your Orange account online but French Telecom bills are
sent to your house in France and can not be checked online as far as I
am aware.

To confirm what you have phone the english speaking customer service
and ask them if you have a seperate account for phone and internet or
not. The customer service reps can change your account to internet
and phone (orange account) but customer service are sales based so
they will try to sell you a more expensive package if they can. Also
when you change your account you need to run the setup cd again and
setup your live box for use with the phone and you need to have a
compatible phone.

If you do change package they will disconnect your phone and internet
for 10 days and issue a new phone number, so be prepared for a lot of
messing about.

In my experience it is very difficult to get a straight answer from
the english speaking customer service and in my experience they will
try to get rid of you asap if they can, so I advise you write a list
of questions before you call and don't let them go before you get all
the answers and make sure you get the customer service reps name at
the start of the call.

The best option of course is to get a French speaker to call this will
save you alot of hastle.

Its possible to buy the livebox so you don't have to pay the rental of
3 Euro but in my experience its best to pay the 3 euro as my live box
was damaged by lightening within the 1st 3 months and needed to be
replaced, as it was rented, this was free of charge.

Things to be aware of
The english speaking customer service sell Broadband (Orange) packages
but only support French Telecom customers, after you purchase if you
have any technical queries or setup problems you must speck French.

For anybody who is thinking of buying broadband and who dosen't speck
French my advise is not to purchase your internet package with Orange
english speaking customer service if possible, try to find a local
shop to purchase it through or purchase from a provider who offers
english support.
