Are you going to continue misliding people

Before I get o my current host I was dealing with Brave Net, and paying almost double that I am paying now and getting nothing, all these free forum and free guest book, is Brave net who benefit from, if they wanted to pay for all these free advertising that they get on top of every free thing that they offer would cost them 10 times more.
Why they do not add php and Perl that they promised is coming?
Because they know if they add those, not one would pay for so-called professional, upgrading of all these "free services,"

At least ten different forums are there and all free without any advertising on top of your pages, without any pop-ups and forcing newsletter (call another advertisement) to members.
The same for chat room, guest book, journals, templates,

Most hosts they offer this (real pro version in their package)
I am not going to add any hosts name here, but if you decided to pay for host please make sure you research first, and believe me Brave Net. Does not offer anything compare to hosts that are out there and cheaper.

Look a t their professional forum, how many password you can set in this forum? One
Does member have his or her own e-mail account, and passwords and avatars? No
Does it enable moderation and administration? No.

Re: Are you going to continue misliding people

Some fair points there - don't forget posting here isn't like a direct comment to bravenet.

It's evident from reading these messages that a lot of complete beginners in web design are managing to get themselves a reasonably good site on bravenet in no time at all, many of them will outgrow the constraints, but it's a free choice and it's not hard to look around for alternative hosts - so good luck to Bravenet I say.

Re: Re: Are you going to continue misliding people

Actuslly, Bravenet provides PHP and MySQL in its professional hosting packages. I suggest you 'research' a little more before you start criticizing.

Bravenet provides a wide range of tools under one member account and many of us like having the management of all of our tools in one place.

Re: Re: Re: Are you going to continue misliding people

A few friends and I have been with Bravenet since they were 1-2-3 Webtools at "freeguestbook.com" back in the last century. In those days the webboard was a simple text area both the input and read. The "2" and "3" were, as named, a free guestbook and a free4all link service and it was on some Danish service if I recall correctly. To see what that little site has evolved into is just amazing!

In terms of free webtools they are unbeilieveable, which is what you want for a hobby site and I have no complaint with the banner ads at Bravehost, althought they used to be oriented to the topic of the page. For free website "add ons" they blow Tripod and Yahoo out of the water both in terms of number and variety and in terms of popups on hosted websites although the free Bravepages sites thow popunders all over the place but that's 100 MB or more of web spece

When I first came in at 1-2-3 Webtools a couple of the banner ad links I got were porno sites. I do wish there was an "adult" section at Bravehost. I am a big girl and what I do not want to see I will avoid. As long as they can avoid the hardcore kinds of filth you find at some places, mild softcore does not bother me and I can live with some fetish (no scat or S/M please) and the trouble with most porn ads is nto that they are "sexy" but that they are gross and the kinds of persons who in facr (as opposed to making believe) get turned on by that swill could leave the world and we would be better off. Low-level fetish or softcore, couched in polite terms never hurt anyone.

As I said, I have been with Bravenet since the last centruy and have very little to say about them that is not good. Now, I can only speak to the free site hosting and the webtools and the tutorials. the soundfiles are all right but I wish that they would put some classical midi files in like the Nutcracker and things like that.

Take this as a ringing endorsement of bravenet.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Are you going to continue misliding people

Bravenet wasnt 1-2-3Webtools...they bought it back in 2000 (or thereabouts). They started as Bravenet and have remained Bravenet. (They also bought freeguestbooks.com)
