Do you need a visa to travel to Japan from Australia? What injections do you need to have before going to japan?
Hi Kellie, VISAS Japan has a unilateral visa exemption arrangement with Australia which means that Australian nationals can stay in Japan for 90 days or less without needing a visa. This arrangement excludes cases involving paid activities (ie. work, work programmes, or any other sort of employment). If you intend to stay longer than 90 days or if you intend to work, you will need a visa. HEALTH In general, the general standard of health in Japan is high and you will not need to follow any courses of injections before travelling to Japan. Specifically: 1.You will not require anti-malarial drugs in Japan. 2. You will not need to take any precautions either before or during your trip with regard to Yellow Fever, Cholera, Typhoid & Polio or Malaria. 3. Nor will you be required to have certification of immunization for the conditions listed above. Food and drink in Japan are generally considered safe but from raw seafood there is a risk of parisitic infection and toxins. I should add that this is rare, and I doubt that you will eat much raw seafood (it's not as common as the national sterotype suggests - but bear it in mind if you do). There are hospitals in all the major cities and clinics in almost every town but I would definitely recommend taking out health insurance before you go due to the high cost of treatment. Have an excellent trip to Japan !!
