Trying to cope is very difficult when you know your best buddy isn't going to be around much longer. I couldn't have asked for a better friend, totally unconditional love from this wonderful creature. His name is Roman Otis.

I didn't know you guys were so close to us! We currently have our second mastiff living with us. Our first, who was from the Lionsire lines, unfortunately went to the rainbow bridge a year ago, when she was 3. Osteosarcoma. We miss her terribly. We now have a new monster, who just turned 1, who is from Skamania lines. She is completely different from our first, but we love her dearly.

I am eager to learn all I can about these beautiful gentle giants. I have been raised with animals all my life so it was no wonder I was a veterinary technician for years. Now I write novels at home and am interested in having a dog around the house. One concern though-currently we have no fence. I am home all day and we have a lovely neighborhood and a park for walking and playing. Our last dog enjoyed 2-4 jaunts a day but she was much smaller than a mastiff. Would you consider this a negative? If I find that no breeder will even consider selling me a pup w/o a fence then I'll have to look into building one. But if that can wait, I would rather wait.
