Use this message board to communicate with fellow Casa Ybel owners! Please do not list weeks for sale or rent on this board. Use the website database for listing purposes.
The votes that owners cast for directors are counted by disinterested parties and the totals are brought by them to the annual meeting. Only votes actually cast by owners are counted, there are no votes cast by the directors except based on their own ownership. Sadly only about 1/3 of the owners bother to vote. Be sure to vote your ballot every year and be assured that your vote counts.
One of the problems with voting, is that with such a large number of owners, we do not get the opportunity to know much about the people who are standing, apart from a short synopsis. Therefore, it is rather "hit & miss". How do we know if the individual candidates are going to be good for us or not? Some candidates provide more information on this forum, which is helpful.
Certain candidates (such as myself) would bring valuable expertise to the board. Unfortunately, it is difficult for the majority of voters to know this, as they only have brief information.
It would be useful if a better way could be found.
I am certainly open for suggestions. With the large number of owners, coupled with the fact that a mostly different group is on Sanibel each week, it is very difficult to get to know all of the candidates. I think we have been fortunate to have an very good board over the years.
You are SO right, Paul! Let's see: we have sandy boots, filthy boots, and now, Cindy Lou of Horton's "Who" crowd...
We do SO need a PROTECTED site - one that requires proper identification to praise Casa, to criticize, or to debate issues and/or board actions. And no more free "want to rent(s)," or "looking to buy(s)," or "have for rent/sale" entries!
As far as the dirty-boots-crowd and the Who-escapee are concerned, I suspect, as do others, that they are somewhat cowardly, or at least, indiscriminate, management representatives, board members, or friends of one or both - unwilling to openly examine Casa policies and board actions and discuss them in an adult way.
Carl has again been presented with strong requests to provide a protected site. He has an obligation to be sure that contributors wipe their feet before they post messages!
Spent the 4th at Casa. Placed looked great! Caught a 41" Snook on the Beach. Climbed over the bolders a couple of times - no mishaps. Pool was too crowded, perhaps we should join Carl at Sundial.
