There is a big scam going on in England at the moment. I don't know if it has reached the USA yet, but keep on your guard.

People are phoning up saying that they are from Microsoft and that they have heard that there is a problem with your computer. They then sell a "Microsoft" maintenance agreement for £65, and once paid, they disappear.

Fortunately I have not been caught with it, but I know several people who have, so be careful if they contact you.

There was an article on computer scams in one of our consumer magazines recently, which included a statement from Microsoft saying that they do not phone people offering any services.
