just got relocated out to ft. stockton in far west tx temporarily for work and got to do a lil surface hunting today on the Pecos River. found a camp on a bluff not too far off the river, lotta flakes, no tools, kinda looked to be picked over a bit, anyway, found a lil point just b4 dark.....
if anyone happens to know of any good places out this way, or any contacts that would let someone out to look around, please let me know, sure appreciate it
Thats a nice one ( Matamoros ? ) Your observation that someone else may have been out that way is a good one.
The US Cavalry probably had some time on their hands after they chased indians away from their camps.
Places & contacts:
Balmorea dates to day 1, ( even as an oasis for dinosaurs ? )..Next month when it's 126* out there,
the 68* spring water is great for scuba & snorkeling.
There's a resident family of skunks that live in a den not far from the camp lots on the hill opposite the hotel at the Ft Davis SP.
Owners of the Rock shop at the Antelope Lodge in Alpine run fossil & rock hunting trips on local private ranches. But thats no big deal for you as you get private access anyway.
Planetarium S of Ft Davis interesting.
