Re: FRL WEEKEND

Spent the night at camp Live Oak, almost in sight of the dig area. This is the porch / museum / tall tale gathering place.

Take note of the humming bird feeders at the far end...

there was at least 1 bird there at all times and frequently as many as 6

When we see 2 diggers walking towards us we know it's show time again !

Papa Flatbed's big Perd...He sometimes personalizes his finds with a little signature ding !

afternoon

That site is still producing after all these years. Good finds there.

Re: FRL WEEKEND

And the winner is.............

Mama and Mason Flatbed !!!!

The blade ~3" is very good quality.

The small Kerrville fist ax is a work of art also. Looks brand new!!!

Yes Hal. Managing a dig is a tough job. Somebody has to do it. :)

Do you think the largest Perd with stacks on both sides was a cast-off, or?

Could that show the evolution of a ? tool. Do you think they would have

eventually been able to knock the stacks off and refine that piece?

Perds of that size and up can be correctly called "knives".
The maker may not have had a need to having it hunting shaft quality so the stacks would /could be left.
Of course it could also fall into the category of ANY worked flint that is not fantastic quality.....no telling what age & experience of the person might have that created the piece and what we see is the best he / she could achieve.

Hang in there...we know there is sure to be rain for the annual Digfest in October
