Re: Suddenly Can't start a new post/topic!

Tony
Yesterday the "start a new post" was working. Now it doesn't.

What's going on?? I'm trying to use this as a promotional tool, and it is simply making me look stupid.

Tony,

It should be good now.

Re: Suddenly Can't start a new post/topic!

Thanks, Tim, but I have already changed to another forum provider.
1. I didn't have the luxury of waiting.
2. I need to be able to rely upon it not to act flakey. Obviously I can't with Bravenet's forum.

Re: FEEDBACK: BRAND NEW Embeddable Message Forum Service!

I would like the new fourm except that I can't get it going properly

I started with the embedded mode but when I posted a test message all I would get was "Please wait, processing msbmission" after about two minutes of that, I aborted. I did this several times. so I switched to remote hosting.

I posted a test message and it got through. When I went to delete the message from the fourm and prepare to launch it and pressed tthe delete button, I got the interminalble "Please wait..." message and that is where I am now.

Also, in the board eidt mode, there is no alt tooltip text with many of the editing images and icons which means, running in my accssibility moes them unintelligible. Now I was told from the get-go to use the alt= attribute on such images, unless their function is readily apparent.

I do hope these things can be fixed.Aside from that, the board looks like just what I want.

PS:Maybe you could licsense your security image system to Yahoo and a few eithers. their caterpillar roadkill style has me totally buffaloed and I cna't join any more groups

Re: FEEDBACK: BRAND NEW Embeddable Message Forum Service!

Email from member on my forum. Can you help?

.......even though I can now access the forum and read what's going on again, after nearly two weeks now since all the surprise changes by Bravenet, I am still completely unable to get any joy when I key in the new password, or before today, the old password. A lot of code seems to flash away in the bar at the bottom of the screen, then the word 'done' flashes up - but the password and login boxes stay put and nothing else happens at all!!

My very techy son has downloaded Adobe flash player 10 for me, as the Mods suggested I tried - but with no result! Also we've tried accessing LMAS from other browsers than Mozilla Firefox - my usual one.... this hasn't helped either. We also went onto Bravenet's site to try to get help, but my son says it is really only for site owners' use, not for individuals like myself.

Re: FEEDBACK: BRAND NEW Embeddable Message Forum Service!

Seems like Bravenet really screwed the pooch on this one.

Don't you Bravenet techies think that maybe, just maybe, it's time to seriously consider changing back to the OLD way that WORKED?

Hi Kirsten,

I just tested logging into your forum and posting from both Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7 and both worked fine. The version of the forum that you are using doesn't require Flash. It just uses standard HTML like the old forum did, so if that one worked fine for them there should be no reason why this one wouldn't. Can you please find out what browser versions they have tried and what security software (if any) that they have installed? If you can provide me with their e-mail address I will gladly contact them to see if I can help them out.

Thanks,
Tim

Re: FEEDBACK: BRAND NEW Embeddable Message Forum Service!

Thank you Tim. Very helpful reply. I'll get back to you on these questions!

Re: FEEDBACK: BRAND NEW Embeddable Message Forum Service!

I've gone from 80,000 forum views a month to a couple of hundred. Thanks Bravenet!

PLEASE give us the option to switch back to the old forum before I lose ALL my contributors.

I'm PAYING for this crap and wasn't consulted about the changes.

Peter,

I would like to help you figure out why you are losing visitors. Are you using the remote or embedded version of the forum? It would be best if you opened a support ticket at http://support.bravenet.com as I would like to have a look at your account to make sure everything is okay. Thanks!

Hi Laura,

I need to see a screenshot of exactly what is happening. Can you please open a support ticket on their behalf at http://support.bravenet.com with a link to one and we will get this fixed up. Thanks!

Pictures cut in 1/2 ?? and Yes, I have also lost ALOT of users

Why are the pictures cut in 1/2 when people post them and them you can "Click" on them and they load?? I don't want to have my users have to CLICK on any of the pictures in the message board to have to SEE them!!! WHAT the heck????

This is a mess .. still a mess and I still want the old one back , you know THE one that I PAID FOR!

AND I have lost 60% of my users / posters .......

I WANT THE OLD BOARD BACK !!!!!!!!!

Browser: IE

Re: Pictures cut in 1/2 ?? and Yes, I have also lost ALOT of users

All of your images appear to be displaying properly. The ones that may be clicked are posted that way by the poster using HTML code.

The images which are cut off are images which are too large for the message area. The service now uses a fixed width (that may be adjusted in your Message Forum settings), so the page does not deform when content wider than the message area is posted.

Re: Trouble with new embedded forum

I just embedded a forum on my web site and upgraded to professional. The problem is, the General Settings tab allows me to move around between tabs but I can't save any of the changes I made. There is no Save button. What do I have to do to make this work>

Re: Trouble with new embedded forum

Why was the IP address search removed and why now are users posting with the same IP address????

Re: Trouble with new embedded forum

Hi Michelle,

You have to be logged in to search by IP address.

When I look at various threads, including this one, people's unique IP addresses are showing up properly. Do you mean people that you've previously IP banned are still able to post?

Tim

Re: Trouble with new embedded forum

Thanks for the reply

No, I have 2 users that are psoting.. Both friends of mine.. BOTH at differnt areas of town, and for some reason they BOTH show up as the same IP address..

IF you look under this heading and look for the reply from Geofactfan..
http://pub17.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=1430426313&frmid=4&msgid=821072&cmd=show

And this heading,. at the bottom for SH posting:
http://pub17.bravenet.com/forum/static/show.php?usernum=1430426313&frmid=4&msgid=817826&cmd=show

They BOTH have IP address 205.188.117.74

I have this problem with another user, I cannot BAN him because it will take someone with them ! See my problem?? How can I BAN a IP when they are coming up, for some reason, the same person..

AND when I am logged in and search that IP , it has just started happening .. but it was happening before with the same IP address and like 5 other people for some reason.. IF I ban it, it will kill like 6 people....

Michelle!

THanks for the help too!

Re: Trouble with new embedded forum

Are they both using AOL by chance? The reason I ask is because it looks like that's a shared AOL IP address. Meaning it's possible at different times they could have had that same IP. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can really do about this as that is how Dynamic IP addresses work. In fact if you were to ban that IP address chances are the person you are trying to ban would be back as their IP address would most likely change the next time they connected to the internet.

Tim

Oh man...

I deserve this.

Having just read through a gazillion pages to locate moderator permissions, I came to this thread.

Bravenet, whoever you are and wherever you may be, I would like to offer this.

I REALLY hesistated signing up with your company due to the no tech support telephone bit. That really concerned me. BUT, you have a lot of features that I really liked with your service (forum, templates, chat, so on) and I finally went for it.

Something really jumped out at me though. I noticed on the support forum there were very few views and very few posters and a red flag went up. Normally these sites are crawling with people eager to help, offer assistance, etc. But this site has few and far between.

After seeing others post with similar problems to mine and then getting brushed off, slammed, admonished, it became apparent I had made a mistake. So far this mistake has set me back about $300. But, it will be the last.

Between the impossible responses for serious problems (yes, there are those of us out here that use the web for more than posting pics of our cats) and the incredibly rude responses of those in charge, I am going to leave you to your own demise.

Shame, you appeared to have something going good and let success go to your head or maybe made so much you no longer cared. Either way, you have lost another customer.
